The founder of religious group “Ri Yue Ming Gong” (日月明功) Chen Chiau-ming (陳巧明) has been listed as a defendant after being accused of starving a 17-year-old high school student, surnamed Chan, to death in June, the Changhua District Prosecutors Office said yesterday.

A 17-year-old high school student was allegedly starved to death after being locked up for eighteen days by his mother, who acted with help from a religious group, the Changhua County Department of Civil Affairs (彰化縣民政處) said yesterday while commenting on the ongoing investigation into the case.

Changhua County (彰化縣) is ready to challenge the Guinness World Records again with their special local cuisine, oyster pancake, in the 2013 Changhua Gourmet Gestival on Saturday, Dec. 7. The county had already achieved two records before by creating the world largest Taiwanese meatball and the biggest stewed pork with rice, said the local government.
