Wax statue of Jay Chou unveiled in Thai capital

BANGKOK--A life-sized wax figure of award-winning Taiwanese singer Jay Chou (周杰倫) was unveiled at a world-famous wax museum in Bangkok Tuesday.

The latest wax figure of the Taiwanese megastar, who topped Forbes' 2012 China Celebrity 100 list, shows him wearing an asymmetrical navy blue jacket and posing with a microphone in his left hand.

“Unfortunately he couldn't be here with us today, but he will be with us shortly,” said Paul Williams, general manager of Madame Tussauds Bangkok, before the figure of Chou was revealed.

Williams said the museum does daily surveys and gets visitor feedback on the personalities visitors would like to see at the museum, and Chou was high on the list.

“Jay Chou's a very popular and important figure in Southeast Asia, so it's just perfectly natural that our customers want to see him here in Bangkok,” Williams said.
