As the entryway to the magnificent Kenting National Park – one of Taiwan's seven national parks – Hengchun often houses more tourists than locals.

Kenting has long been famous for its Phuket-esque atmosphere, with alluring beaches and even more alluring teeny weeny bikinis.

One of Taiwan's largest lagoons, Dapeng Bay (大鵬灣) has been earmarked for development into a major tourist resort since the late 1990s.

It's always a delight to be able to get out of the city and up into the mountains into the fresh air, beautiful scenery and amongst the chirping birds.

There's no doubt about it: Taiwan is home to some pretty odd sights. On this small island you can find such minor geological wonders such as fire-water sources (which spout water and flammable gas simultaneously)...

Xiao Liuqiu (小琉球), the solitary little island off the coast of Taiwan's southernmost Pingtung(屏東) County, has been a popular tourist destination for many years, thanks both to its beauty, and to the fast and efficient yacht service which connects the island with mainland Taiwan in just 25 minutes.

The Lunar New Year Holiday will begin on Jan. 24. This year there will be up to nine days for camera-wielding tourists and their families to take either a long or short trip around the island.

Hsiao Liuchiu (小琉球) may just be a small islet -- although not the smallest of 14 offshore islands -- off the coast of Pingtung County in southwestern Taiwan, but it has long been described as "Paradise on the Sea," and is full of treasures for visitors to explore.

Taiwan is arguably the most underrated adventure tourist destination in Asia, thanks in part to its position as a global manufacturing powerhouse and a perception that the country is one endless industrial wasteland full of overcrowded cities and factories.

In this, the final installment following the adventures of nine brave cyclists riding 800 km from Taipei to Kending over eight days, we look at the final two stages which took us from Antong (安通) Hot Spring on Taiwan's east coast, up and over the southern Jungyang mountain range, and into Kending (墾丁) National Park in Pingtung (屏東) County.
