Orchid show in Tainan brings extra NT$1.9 billion sales

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- A total of NT$5.5 billion worth of orders were placed with orchid farmers as a result of an orchid show held recently in Tainan County, its magistrate, Su Huan-chih, said, yesterday.

“This is a growth of NT$1.9 billion, from 2009's NT$3.6 billion,” he said.

A total of 320,000 visitors went to this year's show, an increase of 20,000 from the show last year, he said.

Buyers from 32 nations attended the event, three more than last year's show, he said.
