Low, CNA International bicycle show opens in TaipeiThis year's exhibition is the largest ever, with 894 exhibitors from 36 countries occupying a total of 3,018 booths, according to Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) Chairman Wang Chih-kang. The number of exhibitors is up 17.3 percent from last year's show and the number of booths has risen by 4.5 percent. Many leading brands, such as Giant, Merida, Ideal, Kenda, Maxxis, Shimano, SRAM, Continental and Colnago, will be showing their products at the show, and Taiwan-based CMC Motor and Japan's Sanyo Electric Co. will display their newly developed electric bicycles. There are three main exhibition areas: the bicycles zone, the parts and components zone, and the light electric vehicle (LEV) zone. This year, the number of exhibitors in the LEV zone is double that of last year. Meanwhile, a series of activities are being held on the sidelines of the trade show, including the 14th International Bicycle Design Competition, the Tour de Taiwan cycle race, and the 2010 International Bicycle Trend Forum. The forum will focus on three main themes: the global bicycle industry after the Copenhagen climate summit, the new aesthetic mobility, and the future development of LEV.
