Advantech buys German computing rival

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Taiwan's Advantech, a leading industrial computer provider, said Tuesday that it had acquired a German company, to consolidate its lead in in-vehicle computing.

The NT$560 million (US$17.55 million) deal will allow Advantech to fully control DLoG GmbH, a Munich-based industrial computer provider which is the number three player in Europe with a 19.3 percent market share.

Advantech said the acquisition will allow it to integrate both parties' strengths to become a global market leader in industrial in-vehicle computing.
