Mobile service fees to be cut by 5.87%This will be the largest cut of its kind to be raised by domestic telecom firms in their service fees reduction plans on March 12 for approval by the NCC. Earlier, the NCC demanded telecom firms to cut their mobile phone rate by the combination of 5 percent plus CPI (consumer price index) growth of 0.87 percent, meaning that the minimum reduction size should reach 5.87 percent, effective April 1. Accordingly, all mobile phone services such as brief message text, mobile voice relay, and mobile calls, etc. will see their rates cut by 5.87 percent. Meanwhile, based on the requirements by the NCC, the fixed network service fees charged by domestic telecom firms will also be cut by 5.686 percent, a combination of 4.816 percent plus CPI growth of 0.87 percent, also starting April 1. This means that consumers will enjoy cheaper ADSL route fees, long-distance call fees, and Internet broadband access fees. | |||||||||||||
