Updated Monday, January 18, 2010 9:44 am TWN, The China Post news staff Heavyweight firms set grand year-end dinner parties for employeesLast year, local enterprises were forced to cancel or downsize their year-end dinner parties due to the impact of the global financial tsunami. But this year, most of them are ready to hold grand Chinese year-end dinner parties for employees in reward for their efforts and contributions to shinning business records in 2009. The Kinpo-Compal Group, for instance, took the lead to hold a large-scale year-end dinner party at the Taipei World Trade Center on Saturday, and LiteOn Technology Group, a leading maker of digital converged devices, followed yesterday at the same venue to entertain some 2,000 employees and VIPs. At yesterday's party, LiteOn Chairman Raymond Soong said the firm's business performance for 2009 was the best in five years, scoring total revenues of NT$97.23 billion and earnings per share (EPS) of NT$3, much higher than NT$2.01 recorded in 2009. The firm expects its EPS to further surge to NT$3.6 in 2010. Today, the Formosa Plastics Group will host a year-end dinner party for its employees at its sixth naphtha cracking complex in Yunlin County, southern Taiwan, partly to celebrate the birthday of the group's late founder Y.C. Wang. Quanta Computer Inc. will host a year-end dinner party at its headquarters in Linkuo, Taipei County on Jan. 29, when famous Hong Kong performing group “Grasshoppers” and new-generation pop singer Jam Hsiao will be invited to perform at the party. Hon Hai Group will spend NT$21 million on the Chinese year-end party to be held Feb.12 at the Taipei Arena, sharply up from NT$7 million seen one year earlier. At the party, the group's chairman Terry Gou is expected to give away five million Hon Hai shares, valued at around NT$700 million, to lucky employees via lot drawing, and announce an encouraging news that all employees will get year-end bonus equivalent to at least eight months of salary. Acer Inc., which hasn't hosted Chinese year-end dinner party for employees, has decided to hold a large-scale one on Feb. 6 and will invite the most popular band, Mayday Taiwan Band, to perform at the party.
