Lenovo denies report it will open research center

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Lenovo Group Ltd., China's largest computer maker, denied a Commercial Times report yesterday that said it plans to open a research and development center in Taiwan and increase procurement from the island.

“Lenovo's Ma Jianrong did not discuss specific R&D plans,” Geraldine Kan, a Singapore-based spokeswoman for Lenovo said in an e-mailed statement yesterday. Ma also didn't “mention any specific figures on increasing procurement in Taiwan.”
