Taiwan stock price index rises 2.71 percent on the weekTourism shares rose by 7.58 percent for the week, leading all sectors, while rubber shares posted the smallest gain of any sector at 0.07 percent. In other representative sub-indices, the Taiwan 50 index increased 154.94 points, or 2.98 percent, to close at 5,347.69. The non-finance index gained 179.36 points, or 2.86 percent, for the week to close at 6,447.28, while the non-electronics index rose 277.42 points, or 2.65 percent, to close at 10,748.34. The non-finance non-electronics sub-index gained 267.10 points, or 3.02 percent. to finish at 9,121.93. Total market turnover for the week was NT$481.85 billion, about 7.5 percent higher than the week before. The top three sectors in terms of turnover were semiconductor shares at NT$91.85 billion, accounting for 19.34 percent of the weekly total; optoelectronics shares at NT$64.829 billion, accounting for 13.65 percent; and computer and peripheral equipment shares at NT$49.11 billion, accounting for 10.34 percent. Taiwan Stock Exchange Corp. statistics showed total turnover on the 217 trading days so far this year totaled NT$25.726 trillion, an average of NT$118.556 billion per day. The market value of listed stocks totaled NT$19.58 trillion as of Friday, up NT$517.968 billion, or 2.72 percent, from the previous week. | |||||||||||||
