Updated Wednesday, November 11, 2009 10:54 am TWN, The China Post news staff Android apps program finalists are selectedThe alliance evaluated the more than a thousand submissions from across Asia-Pacific before selecting 13 finalists that demonstrated the region's continual ability to create and develop innovative and user-friendly mobile applications. The program was launched in the region in mid-2009 in order to encourage and promote the Android platform, as well as to discover the best Android developers in Asia-Pacific. ”This is a great opportunity to unearth talents who could contribute to the developer community,” said Benjamin Ho, the initiator of the Alliance's application development program, Far Eastone's Executive Vice President for Corporate Strategy & Development. Seven mobile service providers across Asia took part in the program — Far Eastone of Taiwan, KT Corporation of Korea, Indosat Tbk of Indonesia, NTT DOCOMO of Japan, SMART Communications of the Philippines, StarHub of Singapore and TrueMove of Thailand. Submissions were judged for their innovativeness and originality, user experience, commercial potential, relevance to consumers and localization capabilities. All 13 finalists will be showcased at a press conference to be held in Hong Kong on November 17.
