Four Taiwan bankers among the 50 highest-paid in Asia

Among these the top earners was Ta Chong Bank President Edmund Koh, who with a total remuneration package of between US$1.5 million and US$3.01 million was ranked the 16th highest paid in the region.

Entie Commercial Bank President Jesse Ding was ranked 32nd with a pay of US$480,000, Far Eastern International Bank President Eli Hong 39th with US$250,000, and Chang Hwa Commercial Bank Chairman Julius Chen 43rd with a remuneration package of US$150,000 to US$300,000.

The report revealed that Australian banking chiefs are the highest paid in the region, with seven of them in the top 10.

Claiming the top position was ANZ Bank CEO Michael Smith with US$8.98 million.

In second to fourth places were Commonwealth Bank of Australia CEO Ralph Norris, Westpac Banking Corp. CEO Gail Kelly, and National Australia Bank CEO John Stewart, all earning over US$5.8 million a year.

David Li Kwok-po, chairman and chief executive of Hong Kong's Bank of East Asia, was in fifth position with US$4.32 million.

Meanwhile, Singapore's United Overseas Bank CEO Wee Ee Cheong, with US$3.82 million, and DBS Group late CEO Richard Stanley, with US$3.99 million, took eighth and ninth places, respectively.

Stanley died from leukemia in April this year.
