China group to buy US$1.2 bil. worth of goods from Taiwan

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- A China trade group, including Lenovo, Chongqing Hybest Air Tools Co. and 54 other Chinese companies, has arrived in Taiwan where they are expected to purchase US$1.2 billion worth of goods, said the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), yesterday.

The delegation includes renowned mainland firms as well as trade officials from Guangdong and Shandong Provinces and the cities of Guangzhou (Canton), Shenzhen, Chongqing, Linhai, Zhuhai and Jinan.

Delegates also include representatives from various Chinese trade associations.

The group will purchase machineries, chemical products, electronics goods, automobile parts and textile, TAITRA said.

At the same time, TAITRA said it will offer assistance to companies in southern Taiwan unable to come to Taipei to talk with the Chinese delegates due to the floods.

These companies can send their information to TAITRA, which will then forward the information to the delegates, the trade council said.
