Updated Monday, July 13, 2009 9:43 am TWN, CNA Chinese mission to buy US$200 million in goodsThe 143-member group was the second procurement mission organized by the Beijing-based Association of Economy and Trade Across the Taiwan Straits (AETATS) so far this year. The first procurement group organized by the AETATS — an organization set up by China's Ministry of Commerce to handle cross-Taiwan Strait trade deals and promote commercial exchanges — visited Taiwan in June, placed more than US$2.2 billion worth of orders for computers, television and other home appliances. The latest Chinese delegation is composed of representatives from 73 Chinese enterprises in various parts of China. The quasi-official Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) will help organize one-on-one sessions for visiting Chinese buyers to meet potential Taiwanese suppliers in the coming few days. TAITRA Chairman Wang Chih-kang said that a third AETATS-organized delegation is scheduled to visit Taiwan between August and September to procure auto components and parts.
