In order to prevent their vouchers from being robbed, members of Liu's family chose to collect vouchers on their own, instead of collectively receiving the shopping coupons. Liu told reporters that the government's practice of granting all nationals the NT$3,600 worth of vouchers to stimulate consumer spending and revitalize the domestic economy should be well recognized. He opined that the government can grant additional vouchers to those jobless families or individuals, so as to allow them enjoy better social welfare. Meanwhile, an extended family in the southern county of Tainan, with 30 people registered under one household, received NT$108,000 (US$3,223.88) in shopping vouchers yesterday. The big Wu family from rural Jiangjyun Township had one representative pick up the big stack of vouchers that the government is handing out to every citizen in the country to stimulate consumption and shore up the slumping retail sector. The Wu family is actually entitled to receive vouchers worth NT$158,400, if the vouchers destined for the family's 14 other members registered in separate households are included, according to family head Wu Chun-hui.
