Mandarin Airlines to open Taichung-Hangzhou route

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- The Taipei-based Mandarin Airlines will begin on Dec. 21 direct chartered flight services between the Chingchuankang Airport in Taichung, central Taiwan and Hangzhou city of the southeastern Chinese province of Zhejiang, the carrier announced yesterday.

From that day there will one flight on the new route every Sunday, a spokesman for the company said, noting that travelers can book the flight at travel agencies.

The fare for the 100-minute flight will be NT$8,000 (US$239) round-trip — excluding tax — per person for group travelers and NT$12,000-NT$13,000 (excluding tax) for business travelers, according to Mandarin Airlines.

The new air route was settled in one of the four significant agreements sealed by the two sides of the Taiwan Strait Nov. 4 to further expand cross-strait air services, as well as direct shipping and postal services.
