New collaboration portfolio unveiled to aid Cisco firms

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Cisco recently revealed a new collaboration portfolio designed to help companies accelerate business processes, increase productivity and speed innovation.

The Cisco collaboration portfolio consists of Cisco Unified Communications, Cisco TelePresence and a new Web 2.0 application platform, all of which use the network as the platform to help enable people to connect, communicate and collaborate from any application, device and workspace.

The portfolio of unified communications, video and a Web 2.0 platform is designed to integrate with business applications, existing IT infrastructures and other Web services, and to allow developers to create new and customized applications and network-based services.

“With the development of communication platform, Web 2.0 and collaboration portfolio combining with data, video, and voice are seen to be widely adopted by Taiwan enterprises,” said C. H. Wu, general manager of Cisco Taiwan. “Our network platform uses open standard protocols allowing key collaboration services to be implemented to a broad range of devices and applications. From simple text messaging, audio conferencing to immersive Cisco TelePresence meetings, Cisco has dedicated to providing customized portfolios and solutions to any scale of enterprises in Taiwan, helping customer to experiences advantages of collaboration such as cost down and higher productivity.”

“To address the currently fluctuated economics, Taiwan-based companies need to improve global service network, realize localized strategies, accelerate innovation, and lower down operation cost in order to achieve sustainable development and strengthen competitiveness. Therefore, it is crucial for enterprises to effectively construct platforms of immediate communicate and seamless collaboration among teams, customers, and partners,” Wu added.

According to IDC’s report released in Dec. 2007, high workflows require highly efficient communication; this combined with the demands for enhanced collaboration will drive enterprises to adopt collaboration applications. As workspace becomes increasingly virtualized, collaboration portfolio and Web 2.0 are considered requisite tools. Meanwhile, MIC’s survey results released in January this year for Taiwan popular enterprise software also indicated that collaboration software is selected as one of the hottest business applications in 2008 due to the prevailing demands for energy saving and integrated communication.
