Hsinchu park firms plan to recruit more employees

HSINCHU, Taiwan -- More than 70 percent of companies in the Hsinchu Science Park in the northern city of Hsinchu plan to recruit more employees in the first half of next year, according to an official of a local employment services center.

Quoting the results of a survey conducted by the online job brokering service 1111 Job Bank at the request of the center, the official said 71 percent of the companies surveyed are planning to recruit new employees during the first half of 2009, with each company intending to recruit an average of 15 workers.

“The figures indicate that companies in the science park are optimistic about the business prospects for the coming year, despite a lingering global financial crisis, “said Li Keng-pei, director of the Taoyuan-Hsinchu-Miaoli Region Employment Service Center.

According to the survey, the manufacturing sector was found to be most willing to recruit more employees, followed by commerce and trading sector, client services, the industrial engineering sector and the opto-semiconductor sector.
