First innovation and design awards to debut at Computex Taipei 2008

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- The first-ever Computex Taipei design and innovation awards will be presented ahead of Computex Taipei 2008, one of the world’s leading information technology shows in the world to be held June 3-7.

The winners of the awards, presented by the International Forum Design GmbH (iF), will be announced June 2, on the eve of the 2008 Computex.

The Taiwan External Trade and Development Council (TAITRA), which is organizing the exhibition, said that the Computex Taipei design and innovation awards will be presented in several categories, including IT products, components and parts, computer systems, computer peripheral equipment, optoelectronic displays, and audio and visual equipment.

A total of 17 finalists have been chosen from among 143 entries, with the winners to be announced June 2. The 2008 Computex is Asia’s biggest IT exhibition and the world’s leading ICT procurement platform.

The show will be held at the Taipei World Trade Center’s Nangang Exhibition Hall, which just opened in mid-March, and the World Trade Center in downtown Taipei.

This year’s show will be the largest to date, with 1,170 vendors displaying a variety of products in 4,481 booths.
