DPP supporters fall strangely ill; KMT miraculously cured

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Reactions by Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and Kuomintang (KMT) members to KMT President-elect Ma Ying-jeou’s sweeping victory in last Saturday’s election have varied, from overjoyed to deep sorrow, with some members of the DPP falling mysteriously ill and sick KMT members recovering.

“It’s all over, Taiwan is finished. We’re all about to become the next Tibet!,” stated one DPP member as he commented on opposition KMT Ma’s latest win.

Cases of disease, depression, insomnia, heightened anxiety and other ailments have reportedly risen following the loss of their presidential ticket Frank Hsieh. Hsieh lost in both January’s legislative elections and his shot at the presidency last week.

“There’s no hope for Taiwan now! No need to save me either,” one DPP supporter was quoted by the local Taiwan media as exclaiming.

Hsieh commented that although he was ashamed by the defeat, he would continue to “guard and care for the people of Taiwan.”

Some KMT supporters, gladdened by their domination in both the one-party-dominated Legislative Yuan and presidential win, have shown immediately visible signs of recovering from previous sickness.
