Air Force gives Chi Po-lin final send-off

Two Air Force C-130 cargo planes left Hualien carrying the remains of filmmaker Chi Po-lin to Taipei Monday morning after a helicopter crash killed Chi and two others over the weekend.

Eighty members of a ceremonial guard lined the path as a car carrying the remains of Chi, photographer Chen Kuan-chi and helicopter pilot Chang Chi-kiang moved toward the cargo plane.

"Dad, it's time to board the plane," several of Chi's family members called out, sobbing.

Twenty-six family members of the victims were present and boarded the flight with the coffins, which will be taken to Taipei City Second Funeral Parlor.

The trio was filming the sequel of the widely acclaimed documentary "Beyond Beauty: Taiwan from Above," which showed the island's beauty as well as its environmental problems. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
