Taiwanese man found dead at home in Indonesia

JAKARTA -- A Taiwanese man studying in Central Java, Indonesia was found dead in his rented home Friday, with the cause of death yet to be determined.

The man, identified as Xie Zhi Qiang (謝志強), 34, died in Semarang, a city on the north coast of the island of Java.

According to a Taiwanese businessman surnamed Wu who knew Xie, he had phone conversation with him on Monday but had heard nothing from him since, so asked his friend to investigate.

An overseas Chinese living in Semarang surnamed Su said that Xie was studying Indonesian language at the State University of Semarang (Unnes), a public university in the city. He used to have regular contact with friends, but they had lost touch with him for several days.

Su said that Xie's body was being taken to a local hospital to be formally identified by his family members.
