Taiwan wants to join WHA: Foreign Ministry asks friends for help

Taiwan still hasn't been invited to the World Health Assembly, but the Foreign Ministry has a new idea up its sleeve.

The Foreign Ministry announced on May 15 that it formally invited its allies across the globe to submit a proposal in support of Taiwan to the World Health Organization.

The proposal is titled "Inviting Taiwan to participate in the WHA as an observer."

At the Foreign Ministry's request, Taiwan's allies have one by one written letters to the World Health Organization Director-General Margaret Chan, asking her to put it on the agenda of the World Health Assembly, which takes place from May 22 to 31.

The Foreign Ministry did not name the allies but expressed its sincere gratitude toward "Taiwan's supporters."
