TAIPEI, Taiwan -- For this year's Mother's Day, Taiwan's top duty-free shop chain Ever Rich (昇恆昌) is bringing back its popular pineapple brownies — which sold tens of thousands within their first week on the market.
This time around, they will have a limited-edition Mother's Day design.
Partnering with Japanese food manufacturer Grapestone Company, renowned for the Tokyo Banana sweets, Ever Rich said their new pineapple brownies uniquely combine Japanese-style exquisite brownies with a sweet and delightful center made from pineapples — locally produced in Taiwan.
The cover of the box shows a "brownie mom" lounging on a beach chair on holiday, while each individual packaging of brownies show either the mom, the "brownie dad" or "brownie junior."
Ever Rich has launched a special event starting today until May 15.
Customers have the chance to win movie tickets for two once they post a picture of them and their mothers with the product onto the brand's Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/Taipei-Sweet-1166510280086125). Twenty winners will be unveiled each week.
Also, credit card holders from designated Ever Rich partners can receive cash back of between NT$700 to NT$3,000 for purchases made across the country.
Partners include Taishin Bank, E.SUN, HSBC, and Union Bank of Taiwan.
Another Mother's Day deal worth noting is that for every NT$8,800 spent on fragrances and cosmetics at Ever Rich Duty Free Shop chain stores, customers could receive a 9-piece make-up brush set.
Top Airport Retailer
Last year, Ever Rich was named "Top Single Location Airport Retailer of the Year" by London-based Frontier Magazine, beating other short-listed contenders such as DFS India, Dubai Duty Free and Qatar Duty Free.
The magazine said that the biggest factor behind Ever Rich winning the award was that the company operates its duty-free shop in a customer-oriented way, well beyond the expectations of travelers.
Over 50 percent of the firm's operating space is used for non-profit purposes such as a round service counter, baby-nursery room, art corridors and other customer-oriented facilities.
