Hakka Affairs Council unveils cloud service

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- The Hakka Affairs Council (HAC) on Nov. 30 unveiled its new cloud computing-based services designed to better promote the culture of one of Taiwan's major ethnic groups globally.

The Hakka Cloud features a web portal and a global information network, plus a system for users to submit applications for rewards and subsidies, HAC said.

Presiding over a ceremony to unveil the Hakka Cloud, HAC Minister Lee Yung-te Hakka Affairs has now entered the cloud era, marking a milestone for transparency in the HAC's work.

Lee said the Hakka Cloud offers user-friendly one-stop online services. For example, applicants seeking subsidies for their project used to be required to fill out and submit paper forms. And they were kept in the dark about the progress of their applications.

But Hakka Cloud now allows the applicants to fill out the forms online and to check the progress of their applications anytime and anywhere, Lee said.
