TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Winning a run of accolades and awards for its commitment to promote corporate governance and environmental protection, Far EasTone's (FET,遠傳電信) corporate social responsibility (CSR) reputation begins a new chapter.
CommonWealth Magazine's (天下雜誌) Corporate Citizenship Awards (天下企業公民獎) are one of Taiwan's most authoritative CSR barometers.
This year's “Progress Awards,” a sub-item under Corporate Citizenship Awards, identified companies that have seen a steady rise in their CSR performances. The winners were FET and Inventec Corp. (英業達股份) in the large-scale enterprise category and Toppan CFI (臺灣凸版) in the foreign enterprise category, placed at 15th, 16th and 4th, respectively.
In this year's Corporate Citizenship Awards, CommonWealth Magazine went beyond adding an “Annual Theme Award” (corporate governance), and decided also to launch “Progress Awards” and “New Star Awards.”
FET Director and Spokeswoman Lang Ya-ling (郎亞玲) said that endeavors in building CSR into company culture are central to equitable, inclusive and sustainable growth.
FET has produced its annual CSR report recently, illustrating the key factors FET thinks make the company's CSR complete, Lang said. The report revealed FET's CSR commitments from the perspectives of corporate governance, customer service, environmental sustainability, social investment and employees relations.
In April, FET was awarded by Taiwan's Global Views Magazine (遠見雜誌) as the winner of “the 10th CSR Environmental Protect Leadership Awards” for its effort in promoting energy saving.
In July, FET won the “Information Transparency & Disclosure Grade A++” from Taiwan Securities & Futures Institute (證券暨期貨市場發展基金會) for the third straight year.
