TAIPEI, Taiwan -- According to the Central Weather Bureau (CWB), parts of the island are likely to see heavy rainfall today, but precipitation will gradually decrease starting from tomorrow.
Due to moisture being brought over to Taiwan from the south, Kinmen, Penghu, Matsu as well as the south-central and southeastern regions of Taiwan Proper will see brief showers and/or thunderstorms.
The bureau also warned of strong waves off the western coast of Taiwan and in waters off Penghu, Kinmen and Matsu.
Due to a high level of moisture in the air, the weather is expected to be relatively unstable, and there is a good chance of heavy rainfall in the afternoon, forecasters said.
According to the CWB, the weather is expected to be sunnier across the island between Aug. 20 and 24; however, there is a likelihood of showers in Southern Taiwan during those five days. Forecasters said, however, that precipitation will be limited and brief from Aug. 20-24.
