TAIPEI, Taiwan -- The Department of Transportation (DOT) of the Taipei City Government said yesterday that the government welcomes all street artists who own a Taipei City street artists certificate to sign up for a performance time and bring their talents to the trial-run pedestrian zone in Gongguan (公館) commercial district.
Since the beginning of August, the DOT has been conducting a trial run of the Gongguan pedestrian zone, allowing only pedestrians and bicycles in five areas around this neighborhood on holidays.
In order to bring more art to the neighborhood, DOT has launched a new regulation to manage the street artists in the pedestrian zone. In the future, people can enjoy interesting shows on holidays from noon to 10:00 p.m.. Street artists who would like to sign up for a spot in the next three weeks can call the city government hotline 1999 and transfer to 1508 during the week days.
