Rain should slacken from Thursday onward: CWB

TAIPEI--The sporadic torrential rain seen in most parts of Taiwan over the past few days could give way to more moderate weather from Thursday, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said, although it cautioned against continued sudden downpours.

Fewer regions are likely to see rain, with the intensity of the precipitation also expected to decline, forecasters said.

Central and southern Taiwan could still see occasional showers or thunderstorms, the bureau cautioned.

Seasonal winds that have been blamed for the heavy rain earlier this week, are expected to move north over the weekend, bringing more rain to northern Taiwan, according to the bureau.
