TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Up to 700 rescue workers continued their efforts in Kaohsiung yesterday, with search dogs prompting rescue workers to concentrate their efforts at a section of Kaisyuan Road at around 4 p.m.
Two city fire department officers are still missing.
With the search dog's intense barking, rescue workers conducted a thorough search in the area, but as of press time, no good news has been reported regarding the missing officers. Bulldozers were being mobilized in the rescue effort.
There was some positive news, however. A person who has been reported missing called home yesterday. The person, surnamed Huang, rents an apartment on Kaisyuan Road near the explosion sites. He had been out of touch with his family for months and had not returned calls since the gas explosions that occurred on July 31, his sister told reporters.
Huang's family posted his photo on Facebook, enlisting others' help to find him. Huang called home after yesterday local media reported his family's efforts.
An austed search and rescue dog takes a break after the search.
