The China Post news staff--An unemployed man was arrested yesterday for placing nearly 3,000 unauthorized purchases on numerous credit cards within the course of two years, said the Miaoli County Police Department.
According to the police, the man had stolen numerous credit cards from convenience stores starting from 2012. The convenience stores were all located in Miaoli, Hsinchu and Taoyuan, where the suspect would steal credit cards or ATM cards forgotten by the stores' customers or when the cashiers were not paying attention.
Surnamed Lee, the 35-year-old suspect claimed that he “felt excited without reason” while stealing the cards and later making countless purchases.
Lee was caught after a staff member of an electronic device store reported him to the police when he recognized the suspect trying to steal another credit card. After seeing the police show up, Lee admitted that he had been using stolen cards and surrendered some 28 credit cards he had on himself.
