New chief of Kaohsiung's AIT begins term in office

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Experienced Foreign Service Officer Robert DeWitt began his term in office as the chief of the Kaohsiung Branch Office of the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) yesterday.
DeWitt had been the first director of the Minneapolis Passport Agency since 2009 until this May, overseeing passport production, fraud prevention, and customer service initiatives in the Minneapolis Region, said the AIT.
Having served as a Foreign Service Officer for over 22 years, DeWitt has served at U.S. embassies or consulates in Shanghai, Beijing, Shenyang in China, Addis Ababa in Ethiopia, Dar es Salam, Tanzania; Kampala, Uganda; Mogadishu, Somalia, and Quito in Ecuador.
According to the AIT, DeWitt has also worked as an instructor at the Foreign Service Institute's Consular Training Division, and worked in the Post Analysis Division in the Executive Office of the Bureau of Consular Affairs.
