Tropical depression moves north-northwesterly: CWB

TAIPEI--A tropical depression formed Saturday in waters east of the Philippines is currently moving in a north-northwesterly direction at a speed of 10 kilometers per hour, the Central Weather Bureau said yesterday.

As the tropical depression is still being formed, it remains to be seen if it will develop into a typhoon, the bureau said.

The bureau reported sunny to cloudy weather in most parts of Taiwan yesterday, with thunderstorms likely in some areas in the afternoon.

On Sunday, northern and central Taiwan saw sunny weather with short thunderstorms in the afternoon, while southern and eastern Taiwan could expect cloudy weather with occasional showers.

Temperatures Sunday ranged from 26-36 degrees Celsius in the north, 26-34 degrees in central Taiwan, 26-35 degrees in the south, and 26-34 degrees in the east, the bureau said.
