Taiwan to face off against US in LPGA Int'l Crown

TAIPEI -- Taiwan will tee-off against the United States Thursday at the inaugural International Crown on the LPGA Tour, which will bring top golfers from eight countries to compete in Maryland.
On the same day, Thailand will take on Spain, South Korea will go up against Australia, and Japan will face off with Sweden.
The Taiwanese team consists of Yani Tseng — former world No. 1 — and Teresa Lu, Candie Kung and Phoebe Yao, while the U.S. team is led by current world No. 1 Stacy Lewis and includes Paula Creamer, Lexi Thompson and Cristie Kerr.
The new tournament features teams from eight countries battling for the title of world's best women's golfing country, according to the organizers.
Four top players from each country are selected to participate in the US$1.6 million tournament at Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Maryland.
Taiwan, the U.S., Spain and Thailand have been placed in the same pool, while South Korea, Japan, Sweden and Australia are featured in another pool.
