TAIPEI, Taiwan -- A woman living in New Taipei City lost over NT$100,000 in cash while riding a scooter on Monday.
The woman, surnamed Ding, runs an Internet café business in the Luzhou District. At about 1 p.m., she took NT$350,000 cash from her store, hopped on her scooter, and went to a bank to deposit the money.
However, it appeared that the bag holding the cash was not sealed properly. The cash flew from her bag while Ding was riding on her scooter.
Seeing cash flying in the sky, a couple riding in a SUV stopped and hurried to pick up littered money. More people stopped to help. However, they returned the money to the couple, thinking that they were the owners of the money.
It was only when Ding showed up and indicated she was the owner of the littered cash that the couple gave the collected money to Ding. Nevertheless, the collected cash was still NT$120,000 short of the original amount.
Ding has reported the incident to the police, who called on the public to return the money if they happened to collect any.
