Match-making event to up local, Japan exports: gov't

TAIPEI--A match-making event between Taiwanese and Japanese companies is scheduled to take place in Taipei next week as part of efforts by Taiwan's government to boost the island's exports.

Nearly 380 one-on-one purchasing meetings will be held between over 300 local companies and 37 Japanese ones, the Taiwan External Trade Development Council said in a statement Saturday.

The Japanese companies have shown interest in buying various machinery equipment, auto parts and components, as well as green products, hand tools and electronic components, Taiwan's main trade promotion body said.

The day-long event will take place on July 8 at the Taipei International Convention Center, according to the organizers.
