The 2014 Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards (TCSA) are now open for application, according to the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE).
In recent years the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) has strongly promoted corporate social responsibility efforts. FSC Vice Chair Liling Wang announced that Taiwan-listed (and OTC) enterprises with corporate social responsibility reports enjoyed an average 2013 EPS of NT$2.39, which is 1.33 times greater than the average of all listed (and OTC) firms' EPS of NT$1.8. This indicates that corporate emphasis on enterprise integrity and good corporate governance principles contribute to their corporate performance bottom line, said the TAISE.
The TAISE has hosted the TCSA since 2008, encouraging enterprises in Taiwan to focus on these issues by recognizing excellence in fulfilling corporate social responsibility, and promoting enterprise evolution to sustainable development, the institute said.
Prior participants in the competition have represented 71 percent of Taiwan's total GDP, illustrating the importance that Taiwan enterprises place on sustainability issues and these awards, said the TAISE.
The TCSA official website is now open for e-application submissions until Aug. 15. This year there will be special Ten Most Sustainable Company Awards which will recognize overall corporate performance and encourage firms to emerge as leading examples so that more companies will fulfill their social responsibility and corporate sustainability, the TAISE stated.
Additionally, the seven major awards categories include Taiwan Top 50 Corporate Sustainability Report Awards, Growth through Innovation Awards, Transparency and Integrity Awards, Climate Leadership Awards, Social Inclusion Awards, Creativity in Communication Awards and the Supply Chain Leadership Award.
