177 youth groups will serve as volunteers in over 30 nations: MOE

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- A total of 177 youth groups will visit 33 different countries and areas as volunteers to provide cultural and environmental education as well as humanitarian concern for people all over the world, the Ministry of Education's (MOE) Youth Development Administration (YDA) announced yesterday.

According to the YDA, as part of the All in One International Activity Project, 1,764 young people from 177 youth groups received subsidies from the administration to become international volunteers at overseas Chinese schools and international conferences in 33 different nations and areas.

The YDA said that such events will allow young people to further explore international affairs and events.

MOE Political Deputy Minister Huang Pi-twan (黃碧端) attended the press conference to encourage the volunteers before they take off.

Huang said this is an excellent opportunity for many young people to understand and learn from volunteering at various international events and to provide services that will require them to invest a great deal of time and effort.

According to Huang, the international exchange activities provided by the All in One International Activity Project will not only greatly benefit the young people who wish to broaden their horizons, but also help promote Taiwan through person-to-person diplomacy.

Huang also encouraged more youth groups to join the project, which will allow them to experience international events and also enable them to become a seed of hope for future generations.

The project allows young people to gain learning and experience abroad in a safe and stable environment, and the YDA specifies particular information that young people who sign up for project should pay attention to.

The YDA said that this information will be available on its official website so that each young person can be properly prepared before leaving Taiwan and fully enjoy their international experiences.
