Taiwan and Malaysia in medical equipment deal

TAIPEI -- Several domestic companies signed an agreement on Saturday to form an alliance with Malaysian companies and the University of Malaya to help sell Taiwan's medical equipment in overseas markets.

The deal, made possible through the efforts of National Cheng Kung University's Medical Device Innovation Center, was signed at the Grand Hotel in Taipei.

National Cheng Kung University President Hwung Hwung-hweng, University of Malaya Chancellor Mohd Amin Bin Jalaludin, Southern Taiwan Science Park Administrator Chen Chun-wei and officials from related companies signed the agreement.

The signing was witnessed by Economics Minister Chang Chia-juch.

Under the pact, medical equipment from Taiwanese companies will be used at University of Malaya Hospital on a trial basis to see how it performs and help develop the cooperative relationship.
