CWB continues to issue heavy rain advisories

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- The Central Weather Bureau (CWB) yesterday continued to issue heavy rain advisories to the nation, with alerts for the 17 cities and counties regarding possible sudden downpours, thunderstorms and strong winds.

According to the CWB, as a result of lingering frontal rain, the weather in Taiwan will remain unstable. All areas are likely to observe showers and thunderstorms, as well as heavy rain and cloudbursts. The area with the most likely chance of experiencing the weather changes has been reported to be the western half of Taiwan.

Mountain areas have been alerted of possible heavy downpours and thunderstorms. Mountain areas in Taitung have reported sudden rockfalls amid a sudden cease of the rain. Hikers and mountain bikers have been advised to cancel their trips for personal safety. Floods could happen in lower ground areas, reported the CWB.

Temperature changes are unlikely, the CWB reported, with the temperature steady at 29 degrees Celsius to 32 C in the morning and at 24 C to 26 C in the evening.

Heavy rainfall will likely last until June 14, with the weather of Northern Taiwan expected to clear up by the 12th.
