Taoyuan deputy magistrate fired over alleged corruption

TAIPEI--Yeh Shih-wen (葉世文) has been dismissed from his position as deputy magistrate of Taoyuan County with immediate effect over his suspected involvement in a corruption case, the county government announced yesterday.

The decision came hours after prosecutors raided Yeh's office and residence as part of an investigation into possible corruption in connection with a land development project during Yeh's time in office in Taoyuan County.

Details of the case or of Yeh's suspected actions that cost him his job were not immediately available.

Yeh was chief of the Construction and Planning Agency under the Ministry of the Interior before assuming his current position in 2013.
