TAIPEI -- Areas around Taiwan can expect rainy weather this week as a weather front is set to approach the country on Monday, the Central Weather Bureau said on Sunday.
On Monday, parts of Northern and Eastern Taiwan could see intermittent rain, while northern Taiwan and the mountainous areas in the central and southern parts of the country could experience brief thunderstorms in the afternoon, said the bureau's forecast.
From May 27 to 30, the stationary weather front can bring intermittent rain or thunderstorms across the country, it said, adding that brief spells of rain can continue across Taiwan on May 31.
Temperatures are forecast to range between 23 degrees Celsius and 33 degrees throughout the week in the north; between 24 and 32 degrees in Central Taiwan; between 24 and 34 degrees in the south; and between 23 and 34 degrees in the east, bureau data shows.
Meanwhile, the morning temperatures were above 30 degrees across Taiwan on Sunday, with afternoon thunderstorms likely to occur in the Greater Taipei area and in the mountainous areas in the west, the bureau said.
