TAIPEI, Taiwan -- The Tourism Bureau released new 2014 international tourism videos on May 19, featuring six different themes to promote Taiwan to foreign tourists.
The six themes are made into six videos covering the Taiwanese tourism elements of culture, delicacies, shopping, lifestyle, ecology and romance. Each themed video focuses on ten foreign tourists from the UK, the U.S., Australia, Belgium and New Zealand, lead by Hong Kong director Au Chi-keung (歐子強). The tourists are shown in the videos enjoying Taiwan from north to south and then from east to west, displaying the uniqueness of the island where traditions meet modern beauty.
Tourism Bureau Deputy Director-General Liu Hsi-lin (劉喜臨) stated that Au also fell in love with the culture and creativity of Taiwan's people. Bureau Chief Secretary Tsai Ming-ling (蔡明玲) also stated that the videos seek to be relieved from the cliched packaging methods of the past and will feature the perspectives of foreigners to present to the world what Taiwan is truly about on a global scale. The videos will also display the diversity of Taiwan, said Liu.
The videos begin with the foreign tourists learning how to say the Chinese word “Zan (讚)!” which has been widely acknowledged as a representative expression for locals exclaiming their liking for something. Each one of the videos comes in 30 seconds, 60 seconds and 3 minute versions for use in various international promotional events, with the complete films at 10 minutes each. The videos are currently on Youtube, as well as on the free Tourism Bureau app.
