A male suspect, surnamed Chen, was arrested yesterday for stabbing a passerby the Taipei City Hall Metro station on May 16, according to the Taipei City Police Department.
According to police, a man surnamed Liu filed a report saying that he was stabbed by a man sporting a ponytail while he was waiting for his friends.
Liu said that he immediately went over to Chen, intending to ask him why hurt him, but the long-haired man left the metro station to take a taxi.
After receiving the report, the police checked the surveillance footage of the metro station, and confirmed that Chen, who lives in New Taipei City, was the unknown man who stabbed Liu.
The police said that they arrested Chen at his residence, but he claimed that he was using the file to fix his nails when he accidentally stabbed Liu with it when walking by.
Meanwhile, a 22-year-old man, surnamed Lin, who posted a message online saying that he appreciated the actions of Cheng Chieh (鄭捷), the assailant in the Taipei Metro stabbing spree, and that he would "take care" of the Miaoli line, was arrested and transferred to prosecutors for offenses against public order.
