TAIPEI, Taiwan -- The stationary front will bring heavy rain to all areas in Taiwan during the week, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said yesterday.
According to the CWB, the weather will not be stable for the following four days due to the stationary front that is hovering over Taiwan, so the country can expect heavy rain and showers.
For today's weather, the CWB said, there will be thunderstorms or rain showers in most parts of Taiwan and a possibility of foehn winds in the southeastern area of Taiwan.
The temperature during the day on Tuesday in the northern area will be between 23 and 30 degrees Celsius, the temperature in central Taiwan will be between 22 and 30 degrees while the temperature will be between 23 and 32 degrees in the southern part of Taiwan.
The CWB said that the weather will remain unstable during the period that the stationary front stays around Taiwan, so people should carry their rain gear with them when they go out.
People who plan to go up into the mountains or do any activities on riverbanks should be extra careful of their safety.
According to the CWB, the front approached Taiwan last Sunday, which caused the weather to become unstable while bringing heavy rain to many parts of Taiwan.
In Pitou Township of Changhua County, the accumulated precipitation reached over 90 mm last Sunday, and foehn winds were recorded in Taitung County's Dawu Township , which was the third time a foehn was recorded in the township and brought the temperature up to 36.6 degrees.
