Chen scores 5th win, helps stem Orioles' losing streak

TAIPEI--Taiwanese left-hander Wei-yin Chen led the Baltimore Orioles to a 2-1 win over the Royals in Kansas City Thursday, marking the 28-year-old's fifth win this season and his first career victory over the Royals.
The win in the four-game series opener also ended Baltimore's four-game losing streak.
Chen, who improved his record this season to 5-2 after the game, allowed 7 hits over 5.1 innings. The Royals scored their only run with three singles and a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning.
Earlier in the same inning, Nelson Cruz hit a two-run homer, his 12th of the season, to give Baltimore the lead.
