Humid and hot weather forecast for Mother's Day

TAIPEI--Taiwan should see a summer-like Mother's Day as hot and humid weather is forecast across the island, the Central Weather Bureau said Saturday.

Daytime highs on Sunday could be some three degrees Celsius higher than on Saturday, forecasters said.

Afternoon thunderstorms are likely in western Taiwan, while eastern parts of the country could see sporadic showers, the bureau said.

The weather is expected to cool down again Monday, when a weather front brings steady rainfall to northern and central Taiwan, according to the bureau.

On Sunday, temperatures should range from 22 to 33 degrees in the north, 23 to 33 degrees in central Taiwan, and 24 to 31 degrees in southern Taiwan.
