Gov't giving free luggage tags to passport applicants

TAIPEI--The Ministry of Foreign Affairs' (MOFA's) Central Taiwan Office is offering passport applicants free luggage tags Thursday and Friday to celebrate Mother's Day on May 11.

Several passport applicants queued up Thursday to get the luggage tags, which contain the ministry's guidelines for dealing with travel emergencies and were described by the recipients as a practical gift.

The promotion was launched by the Executive Yuan's Central Taiwan Joint Services Center and the MOFA's Central Taiwan Office.

Tang Kuo-tai, CEO of the Central Taiwan Joint Services Center, said the luggage tags will familiarize travelers with the procedure for contacting Taiwan's embassies and representative offices abroad if they need emergency assistance.
