1 killed as HK, Taiwanese travelers assaulted in Manila

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- A gun attack on a car carrying two Hong Kong and two Taiwanese passengers left one dead in Manila on Friday night, Philippines police officials were cited by the Central News Agency as saying yesterday.

The deceased was a Hong Kong citizen, the officials were cited as saying.

The police declined to reveal the identities of the passengers, citing concerns over the safety of the survivors, the CNA said.

The police said unidentified gunmen fired at their car while it was going down a narrow street in Manila. The motivation behind the attack remains unknown, the police added.
