TAIPEI, Taiwan -- The Taipei International Design Award 2014 became the only award in Asia this year to be certified by three internationally renowned design associations: the International Council of Graphic Design Associations and the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design, as well as The International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers.
According to the Taipei City Government Department of Economic Development, since first being awarded in 2008, the award has accumulated 10,258 submissions, with last year exceeding 4,000 entries.
The department has also since aided winners of the award in patenting their products. So far the award is thought to have helped bring NT$14 million to Taiwan's design market.
Department of Economic Development Director Huang Chi-jui stated that on April 30 the Taipei International Design Award 2014 will be taking entry submissions, hoping that this year will be the most elaborate and brilliant award yet.
